SkooBook

SkooBook is the learning app that does not stop when the internet does. Students and teachers get their courses, resources and assignments on Android, iOS and Windows, and nearly everything works from data already on the device.

One codebase across Android, iOS and Windows, so the three behave identically and receive the same fixes at the same time.

Offline-first, honestly implemented

Offline is the design principle, not a fallback. Course content and learning materials synchronise to the device in advance and stay browsable without a connection. Crucially, the app never silently shows incomplete data: if something has not synchronised, it says so and prompts the user, and a visible indicator always shows how fresh the local data is. Features that genuinely require a connection are labelled as such, with a message that tells the user what to do rather than failing silently.

What students and teachers get

  • A personalised dashboard of every enrolled course, driven by real registration data and available offline once synchronised.
  • Documents, resource sets, assignments and projects organised per course.
  • Arabic and English interfaces with full right-to-left rendering, switchable inside the app at any time.
  • On-demand translation of untranslated material into the user’s preferred language.
  • Graduation planning that tracks required courses and suggests routes to completion.

Built for real networks

SkooBook detects four connectivity states, full, limited, local-only and none, and adapts its behaviour to each. Failed operations retry automatically when the connection returns, using a resilience layer designed for unreliable networks rather than assuming a good one.

Security and isolation

Sign-in is browser-based single sign-on using OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect with PKCE, so the app never handles the password. Sessions persist across restarts and renew automatically, and signing out revokes tokens and clears local data. Each organisation is completely isolated, and one installation can serve a user who belongs to more than one institution without mixing their data.
